Dovecote School is part of the Cavendish Education family.
Cavendish Education is a family of day and boarding schools focused exclusively on enabling children and young people with unique learning profiles (including dyslexia, dyspraxia, autism and social communication needs) to be the very best they can be.
The schools in the Cavendish Group focus on an individual’s strengths, talents and interests. Each school has its own distinctive character, atmosphere and facilities, and they all provide a well-rounded, differentiated and skillfully-supported academic curriculum. Sport, the arts, outdoor education and life skills feature highly in enrichment activities.
Cavendish schools inspire children and young people to have:
the confidence to be themselves,
the competence to achieve,
the creativity to shine, and
the character to succeed.
Through our distinctive approach we deliver outstanding outcomes for our students.

Governance and Oversight
The Proprietor Body exercises its responsibilities through a structured framework of governance, oversight and accountability. This includes regular monitoring of the school’s compliance with statutory requirements, including safeguarding, welfare, health and safety, and the quality of education provided.
The Headteacher and Senior Leadership Team are responsible for the day-to-day leadership and management of the school. They are held to account by the Proprietor Body through regular reporting, review meetings and performance monitoring. This ensures that leaders maintain high standards and that any areas for development are identified and addressed promptly.
The Proprietor Body reviews key areas of school performance on a regular basis, including:
- Safeguarding and child protection arrangements
- Compliance with the Independent School Standards
- Quality of teaching, learning and curriculum provision
- Pupil wellbeing, behaviour and attendance
- Health and safety and risk management
Formal reviews of policies and procedures are carried out at least annually, with additional reviews undertaken where there are changes in legislation, guidance or school practice.
The Proprietor Body ensures that appropriate systems are in place for receiving and responding to feedback, complaints and concerns, and that these are used to inform ongoing school improvement.
Through this process, the Proprietor Body provides both support and challenge to school leaders, ensuring continuous improvement and accountability at all levels.
The Proprietor Body ensures that leaders actively promote the wellbeing of pupils and fulfil their responsibilities effectively, in line with Part 8 of the Independent School Standards.
