This week Dovecote are celebrating Recycling week.

We have any different activities which the students can choose from such as:

- Building a Carnival cart out of recycled materials.
- Building a boat/raft that will keep a toy dry and safe for 1 minute in water.
-Making ...seeded paper cards
- Creating plant pots out of recycled plastic bottles and then planting seeds in them.
- We have also been given the opportunity for students to create a piece of art based on the theme reuse. This will be entered in a competition, the best design will be painted on the side of the container at the SUEZ Bridgwater Depot. Runners up will win book vouchers for the school!

On Friday afternoon, students will be given the opportunity to show their creations and look at others.

Tying in with Recycling week, we will be launching our bid for the ‘Eco School Green Flag’. We will be putting together a student Eco committee to help drive initiatives, educate and give a voice to our students around this topic. We are really excited to start this and think it will give our students many different exciting opportunities.

We cant not wait to see everyone's creations!

Today, on World Mental Health Day, we want to take a moment to remind you that not all mental health struggles are visible. Behind the smiles we share and the laughter we hear, many people silently battle with feelings of anxiety, panic attacks, or the urge to isolate themselves. These experiences ...– crying, pushing others away, feeling overwhelmed – often go unnoticed.

We encourage you to take a minute to check in with your loved ones. A simple text or a quick phone call can make a world of difference. And while you’re reaching out, don’t forget to check in with yourself. If you’re not feeling okay, that’s absolutely alright. You are not alone, and it’s essential to let someone know how you feel. Let’s break the stigma around mental health and create an atmosphere where we can support one another. Remember, it’s okay not to be okay

We’re on the hunt for an experienced School Office Manager to join our lively, dedicated team at Dovecote School.

You’ll need to be the kind of person who can juggle several (metaphorical) balls at once, keep a smile on your face, and maybe even find time for a cuppa while you do it. ...

And yes, you will get school holidays off—well, most of them!

Today is National Animal Day
🐇🐖🦆🐴🐑🐐🐈‍⬛🐕‍🦺🦃🐓
Animals can enable children to feel a source of companionship and give love and connection without expectation.
They can give a sense of connection which for some children can be transformational in how ...they begin to feel valued and noticed.
Animals can allow a child to reconnect and begin to feel safe enough to form a relationship that is reciprocal and mutual. They can be the gateway to enabling relationships with others.
Animals often do funny things which allow us to smile and laugh, which can allow children to feel lighter and more carefree, and when they feel happier, they can learn more.

Please find attached the QR code that will link to the Somerset School Aged Immunisation Team Facebook page which is updated regularly with information regarding vaccinations and clinics.

On Wednesday 11th September we had an Anxiety Awareness day at school. The students had the opportunity to take part in a range of activities such as making calming jars, decorating relaxation rocks and creating worry dolls/puppets. We were so impressed with all of their hard work.
